Kitchen crochet

I love the Catania yarn from Schachenmayr. It is my favourite to make toys for children (mine and my friends'). I got several books for Christmas, one of them is full of patterns for the children's toy-kitchen. I started a muffin-form when my son went to Kindergarten in January, but I didn't go far, lacking time really... Then last weekend I took my crochet bag with me and decided to finish it. I made a four-muffin-form instead of a six one. My children's oven isn't that very big and I also do not intend on making too many muffins (four to eight will do).
The felt sweets I made several years ago fit quite nicely, so I might not even bother making cupcakes or muffins ;)
I like the colours, citrus fruits and bright summer-sky blue! The perfect baking-form for summer!

In addition I used a bit of left-over yarn to make lollipops. N. and T. love them!

Crochet food

I am starting to have a lovely stash of colourful yarn, I mostly have cotton yarn. I love working with cotton and making toys for the children. I also had a lot of fun making those pictures with my new camera (Samsung NX3300). The colours are so rich:

I made this play-food set for my Godchild. I think she likes them very much. After Christmas her Mum told me that she was spending every day "eating" macaroons and chicken!

And for my children I made a cauliflower. I couldn't resist the temptation when I saw the pattern in a friend's book!

It was a rather long effort but well worth it. I think soon I'll post an article on crochet books. There are really nice ones!

I now own about 4 or 5 crochet books and with checking out Pinterest, I certainly don't lack inspiration! Just lacking time ;)

Pony House

Hi everybody!

It has been a month since I last posted, I am truly sorry about that! Things have been pretty hectic since Christmas. My youngest has started going to the Kindergarten, I have been getting ready for my new job starting in February and trying to get some stuff done around the flat in the meantime... Plenty of things for me to do!
I kept crafting in the meantime but I didn't find enough time to write about it.

I do not want to abandon my blog though, so I will try to make an effort in the next days or weeks to get back to writing more regularly.

I will start today by showing you what I made for N. She has a thing for ponies at the moment (Filly and My Little Pony), and she needed a place to store them. I thought I'd make some fun storage that she could also played with. I got an old nightstand from a neighbour and started remodeling it.
The children also took some part in preparing the house. I found some kits for assembling doll furniture. They both had a great time making them!
The colours of both carpets and walls were actually chosen by N. She wanted the house super-colourful and bright.
And after two weeks or so, the ponies did move in and enjoyed their new abode.

How do you like the house? I rather like it but I think I will need to work on some lights for next winter. Play time in dark winter wasn't too great with just the ceiling light from the bedroom.

Have a pleasant evening and drop by again soon, I promise I'll be writing again :)

Ribbons

I got three presents today for my birthday (last week), great DIY books and a creative year planner for 2016. I loved them! They were prettily wrapped in colourful papers and beautiful white ribbons.

I have a thing for ribbons, my sisters, mother and mother-in-law could vouch for that. My son seems to have the same thing ;) he tried to steal them from me. So I decided to let him have one. That's generous of me, isn't it?

Here is what I used before giving the ribbon to him:
- a glue pistol
- three ribbons
- three small sticks
and tadaaaaaa! Three pretty ribbons to play with, one for N., one for T. and one for A. - N.'s best friend.
I will give them away this afternoon and I am looking forward to making pictures of the three children dancing with the ribbons flying around them.

My Grandmother had made something like this for my sister M. and I. In blue. How we played and loved them! I just hope my children will love them as much as we did ours.

The SC & more n°295: First frosts

Ange asked us to make something to fend off the first frosts. When she published her post last week, I could not find any idea as it wasn't that cold yet, we still had about 16°C outside! Then suddenly over the weekend, winter came around and temperatures dropped to 0°C at night. My children did not need anything so I made something for their dolls.
Both T. and N. are happy about those new pieces of clothing, but N. wasn't too happy about the colours: there is NO PINK!
N.'s doll needs some warmer clothing, this summer dress is a little thin and short ;) but I don't know yet when I will have the time.
A picture for the Museum
Thanks Ange for this theme! And we will all meet again tomorrow for the next challenge on Isabelle's blog.

Cuddly planes

If you remember, the other day I made three mini-wheels but without telling you what they were for.

Well now I can tell you. A young E. just celebrated his fourth birthday and here is his present:

I had found a pattern via Pinterest a while ago, but had not gotten round to use it until two days ago. Now, the thing is that while making it, my little boy asked very kindly (and desperately) if he could have one too. So I made him one as well and he just loves it.
I also made a small pink car for his sister, she was so happy about it! She liked it so much that she spent the night with it :)
I used a pattern from "Look at what I made". I made a few mistakes but on the whole, it was rather easy to make the mini-car.

The SC & more n°290: 3

The number 3 is this week's challenge theme given by Isabelle  .

 Here is my participation:
Three mini wheels - the smaĺlest is hardly bigger than my 2,5yo 's fingertip! I cannot show you what they are intended for though, not before Friday when a birthday boy will be opening his 4th birthday present :)
So... if you are curious, visit me again on Friday at 16h! Check out the other creations in the Museum

Miniature toys

If you remember I had made some traveling toys last year for the big trip we made to Brittany. Well, somebody really liked them and asked if I could make one for her niece's birthday. I was told the little girl was fond of playing with her dolls and being a little mother... so I came up with this:

I hope little D. liked it and will enjoy many sweet games with this "Thumbelina".

Pony frenzy!

I finally get around to showing you what I worked on for several weeks. In the end I could hardly enjoy it, I finished four large ponies, but I still have three small ones waiting to be completed. I lacked time and motivation, so they will be finished for Christmas.

I had come across this pattern from Knit one Awesome via Pinterest and was determined to give it a try.

Getting the eyes ready

Let's take a run!

The hard work was completely worth it though, the four girls who received those ponies were so happy!! The look on their faces when they discovered them was priceless!

So as I said, I'll be finishing three little ones for Christmas and I am also planning on making two more for my son who feels a little left behind without any pony.
